Gas springs are constructed using a nitrogen gas filled cylinders with an oil chamber, and a piston rod which are under a pre-set pressure for load capacity. Typically used to lift a cover, access panel, hood, etc. They can be used to neutralize the weight of the cover, so all that is needed is slight force to either lift, or close the lid. Gas springs can be made with a variety of materials. The most common are Chrome plated steel rods with black painted cylinders or all stainless steel Construction.
